KWFT SHOWCASES DIGITAL SOLUTIONS AND LAST-MILE FINANCIAL INCLUSION AT AFRACA FORUM
KWFT showcased the role of digital banking, affordable device financing and financial literacy in extending financial services to women and rural households, as African financial sector players explore ways to close gaps in financial inclusion.
The bank was among the institutions invited to the 2026 Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries (TCDC) Multi-Country Exchange Programme, organised by the African Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (AFRACA) in Nairobi from 2 to 6 November.
Held under the theme “Kenya’s Experience in Digitalising, Supervising and Inclusive Finance through SACCOs and MFIs”, the programme brings together regulators, policymakers and financial sector practitioners from nine African countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone and Sudan.
Speaking on the opening day at the CBK-IMS in Nairobi, KWFT Managing Director Rose Muyanga shared the bank’s approach to delivering last-mile financial services to women and rural households. She highlighted how digital solutions are helping overcome geographical and affordability barriers that have traditionally limited access to formal financial services.
The presentation also examined the role of mobile banking in extending services beyond physical branches, device financing in making digital access more affordable, and digital literacy in equipping customers with the skills and confidence to use financial services.
KWFT’s approach combines financial products and services designed around the needs of women and their households, with a focus on improving livelihoods and supporting economic empowerment in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The programme continues with technical discussions, peer learning and field visits, giving participating institutions an opportunity to examine Kenya’s financial inclusion models and explore approaches that could be adapted to their respective markets.
